We're Roots Art. A UK-based gallery that produces and sells art and photography prints. We reached out because we saw and loved your work. Before you reply, here's everything you need to check we're genuine: our company details, our privacy policy, and the exact agreement we'll ask you to accept. We're onboarding our founding artists now ahead of our September 2026 site launch — we'd love for you to be part of it.
No fees, no lock-in, no exclusivity, you keep your copyright.
Upload your artwork or photography as a high-resolution file, at least 6,000 pixels on the longest edge. The bigger the file, the bigger the prints, and the biggest earn you the most. You keep full copyright, and you're free to sell the same work anywhere else too.
We list, produce, and sell prints of your work on rootsart.co.uk. Buyers can search by city, town, or postcode to find artists near them. Your work reaches a national audience, and people who want art with a local connection.
We pay you 30% of the print revenue on every sale, our standard rate for founding artists. We calculate your commission on the print itself, regardless of framing. That's £6.75 on a small print, up to £63 on our largest canvas. We pay you monthly by bank transfer.

Giclée printed on heavyweight 200gsm matte art paper. A museum-grade process that reproduces colour and detail faithfully, sold framed or unframed, with or without a mount.
Printed on artist-grade 400gsm canvas and hand-stretched over 38mm pine stretcher bars. Available framed or unframed.
Solid wood frames sourced from sustainable forests and wax-stained for a beautiful finish. Available in black, white, and natural, with mount options on paper prints. 33mm deep for paper prints and 53mm deep with a 5mm float gap for canvas.
We offer your work in up to six sizes. Small (about the size of A4) up to Statement XL (100x150cm for 3:2 prints). Available sizes depend on aspect ratio and file resolution. We support square, 3:2, and ISO 216 (A size) aspect ratios in portrait and landscape. If your art is a different scale let us know and we'll see if we can add it to the range.

1. This Privacy Policy describes how Roots Art Ltd ("Roots Art", "Roots", "we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, and shares personal data. Roots Art Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under ZC196595.
1.1. Last updated on the 20 July 2026
2.1. If you visit rootsart.co.uk: IP address, browser, device, and pages viewed, collected by cookies (see Cookies and advertising below). Searches you make, including postcodes, place names, and your location if you use the "Use my Location" feature.
2.2. If you buy from us: name, email, and phone number; delivery and billing addresses; order history and customer service messages; account login details and preferences, if you create one. Payment details go directly to our payment providers — we never see or store your full card details.
2.3. If you are an artist: your public profile (display name, portrait, bio, displayed location, and outward postcode), legal name and contact details. Your Artist Agreement acceptance record (the version you accepted, the date and time, and the details you submitted). Your artwork (files, titles, descriptions, and preferences). Your bank details — account holder name, sort code, and account number.
3.1. Most comes from you: placing an order, creating an account, contacting us, joining the mailing list, or onboarding as an artist. The rest arrives automatically from your device via cookies; from the providers who run parts of our business (Shopify, payment processors); from Meta and Google, who report on how our advertising performs; and from Shopify's fraud analysis, which gives us risk signals about transactions.
4.1. To fulfil your orders including payment, printing, delivery, returns, confirmations, and dispatch updates.
4.2. To run your account and answer your questions.
4.3. To onboard artists, display their profiles, and pay their commission.
4.4. To send marketing emails if you've opted in.
4.5. To spot potentially fraudulent orders.
4.6. To measure and improve rootsart.co.uk and our advertising.
4.7. To keep the records the law says we must.
5.1. UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use:
a. Contract — fulfilling your orders, and onboarding, displaying, and paying artists under the Artist Agreement.
b. Consent — marketing emails and non-essential cookies. Withdraw it whenever you like.
c. Legitimate interests — running, securing, and improving the business, and preventing fraud. You can object at any time (see Your rights).
d. Legal obligation — tax, accounting, and consumer law records.
6.1. Essential cookies (basket, security) are always on. Everything else runs only with your consent, given or withdrawn through the cookie banner.
6.2. With your consent we use: Meta Pixel and Conversions API — the pixel collects data in your browser, and the Conversions API sends events (e.g. purchases) and hashed identifiers to Meta from our systems, so we can measure and target our advertising. Google Analytics 4, to understand how rootsart.co.uk is used, and Google Ads, to measure our advertising. Shopify, which sets cookies to run the store.
6.3. You can change your mind any time via the cookie settings link, opt out of personalised ads in your Meta and Google account settings, and opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, which are not standardised.
7.1. We never sell your personal information. We share it only with those who help run Roots, and only what they need:
a. Shopify hosts rootsart.co.uk and processes orders and accounts.
b. Payment providers take your payment directly at checkout.
c. Prodigi prints and delivers your order, so receives your name, delivery address, and the artwork file.
d. Google hosts emails and we use Google Workspace and Drive.
e. Meta receives hashed email, IP address, and event data for advertising, with your consent, as above.
f. An email marketing provider where we use one, to send messages on our behalf.
g. Professional advisers, our bank, accountants, lawyers, insurers.
h. Authorities where the law requires.
i. A buyer or investor if we ever sell, merge, or finance all or part of the business.
8.1. We are UK-based, but some providers process data outside the UK, including in the US. Those transfers are protected by UK adequacy decisions (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
a. Order and payment records: 6 years from the end of the financial year (tax law).
b. Artist Agreements and acceptance records: 6 years after the agreement ends.
c. Artist bank details: until your final payment is made and reconciled.
d. Artist public profiles: while your work is listed; removed promptly after your agreement ends.
e. Marketing lists: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
f. Analytics and advertising data: per each tool's settings, set to the shortest available.
9.2. After that, we delete or anonymise it.
10.1. You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it (unless the law requires us to keep it), give it to you in a portable format, or restrict or stop processing it — including any processing based on legitimate interests, and direct marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.
10.2. Email privacy@rootsart.co.uk with "Privacy request" in the subject line. We will verify your identity and reply within one month. Someone can make a request on your behalf if you authorise them.
10.3. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, or to your local data protection authority in the EEA.
11.1. Encryption in transit, restricted access, and the security programmes of our providers. Shopify handles all card processing and is PCI-DSS compliant. Artist bank details are stored separately, with restricted access. No system is perfectly secure, though, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information sent to or from the site.
12.1. We make no automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. Where a system flags something — such as a potentially fraudulent order — a person reviews it before any action is taken.
13.1. We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page, and we will flag significant changes.
Artist Agreement
1. Parties. This agreement is made between:
1.1. Roots Art Ltd, company number 17326941, of 66, Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA. Also referred to in this contract as “Roots”, “Roots Art”, “Company”, “we” and “us”.
and
1.2. The Artist, the person identified by the legal name and email address presented on the Acceptance Form and recorded in the Acceptance Records. Also referred to in this contract as "you".
2.1. “Artwork” – each original work you submit to us for sale on the Platform.
2.2. “Product” – the physical reproduction of the Artwork including framed, unframed, and mounted paper prints, and canvas prints, with or without a frame.
2.3. “Base Format” – for paper print Products (framed or unframed, with or without a mount), the unframed paper print; and for canvas Products (framed or unframed), the unframed stretched canvas.
2.4. “Base Print Revenue” – the then-current retail price on the Platform of the Base Format of the same Artwork, in the same size as the Product sold, less VAT and other sales taxes.
a. If at the time of sale, the Base Format of the same Artwork in the same size is not offered for sale on the Platform or is offered at a retail price of less than 30% of the retail price of the Product sold, the Base Print Revenue is instead 30% of the retail price of the Product sold, less VAT and other sales taxes.
2.5. “Commission Rate” – the percentage stated in the Acceptance Form as recorded in the Acceptance Records.
2.6. “Commission” – the sum payable to you for each Product, calculated as the Base Print Revenue multiplied by the Commission Rate.
2.7. “Effective Date” – the date and time at which you accept this agreement by submitting the Acceptance Form as recorded in the Acceptance Records.
2.8. “Platform” – the website found at domain Rootsart.co.uk and its subordinate domains.
2.9. "Term" – the period from the Effective Date until termination of this agreement.
2.10. “Acceptance Form” – the online form we provide to you to accept this agreement, which presents your legal name, email address, Commission Rate, and agreement version before acceptance.
2.11. “Acceptance Records” – our record of each acceptance of this agreement, containing your legal name, email address, Commission Rate, agreement version, and Effective Date. On acceptance we will email you confirmation of these details together with a copy of this agreement as accepted. You may request further copies.
3.1. You grant Roots Art Ltd a non-exclusive worldwide, royalty bearing licence for the Term to:
a. Reproduce the Artwork as Products and sell those Products.
b. Display the Artwork and Products on the Platform.
c. Use the Artwork, your name, and your likeness in marketing for the Platform and any associated social media, paid advertising, email, and Platform features.
d. Crop, resize, add edge treatments (applying a solid colour around canvas edges) and make reasonable colour adjustments to the Artwork where necessary for reproduction, display, and marketing.
3.2. You retain full copyright and all intellectual property rights over the Artwork. Nothing in this agreement transfers ownership.
3.3. We will credit you as the artist wherever the Artwork is displayed, so far as is reasonably practicable.
3.4. You agree that any treatment of the Artwork permitted under clause 3.1 does not constitute derogatory treatment for the purposes of section 80 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
4.1. You warrant that:
a. You are the sole creator and owner of each Artwork or hold all rights necessary to grant the licence in clause 3.
b. No Artwork infringes on the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party.
c. No Artwork contains unlawful, defamatory, or obscene content.
d. No Artwork was created with generative AI or contains elements created with generative AI.
e. You are over 18 years old and are legally able to enter this agreement.
4.2. You will indemnify us against losses, claims, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from any breach of clause 4.1.
5.1. You remain free to sell, license, and display each Artwork anywhere, including your own website and other marketplaces.
6.1. For each Product sold we will pay you the Commission.
6.2. Payments will be made monthly in arrears and must be paid no later than the 15th day of the subsequent month by bank transfer to the account you provide to us.
6.3. We will provide a sales statement with each payment via email showing units sold, Base Print Revenue, and Commission per Artwork.
6.4. You are not an employee, agent, or partner of Roots Art Ltd. You remain solely responsible for your own tax, national insurance and HMRC registration obligations.
6.5. No Commission is payable on any sale that is refunded or charged back. If a sale is refunded or charged back after Commission has been paid, we may deduct the corresponding amount from future payments to you.
6.6. Commission is inclusive of any applicable VAT. If you are VAT registered, you must notify us and provide a valid VAT invoice before payment.
6.7. If the total Commission due to you in any month is less than £20, we may carry it forward and pay it in the first subsequent month in which the accumulated total reaches £20, or on termination if earlier.
6.8. We may withhold Commission on any sale we reasonably suspect to be fraudulent, pending investigation, and will pay it promptly if the sale proves genuine.
7.1. We set the retail prices, available print sizes, paper and canvas stocks, frame, and mount options for each Product, and may vary these from time to time at our discretion.
7.2. We may run site-wide or targeted promotions. These will not alter the Commission paid to you per Product.
7.3. We are not obliged to offer Products of any Artwork for sale and may decline any submitted Artwork or remove any Product at our discretion.
8.1. You may withdraw any Artwork at 14 days' written notice. We will remove any associated Products from sale as soon as reasonably practicable (including retiring any already published marketing materials) and no later than the end of the notice period.
8.2. We may remove any Product at any time, immediately and without notice if we receive an intellectual property complaint, legal demand, or reasonably believe that the associated Artwork breaches clause 4.1.
8.3. Orders placed before removal takes place will be fulfilled and Commission paid as normal.
9.1. This agreement starts on the Effective Date and continues until terminated.
9.2. Either party may terminate for convenience at 14 days' written notice.
9.3. We may terminate immediately if you materially breach this agreement, or where the breach is remediable, you fail to remedy it within 14 days’ written notice.
9.4. On termination of this agreement:
a. We may fulfil any existing orders.
b. We must remove all Products from sale on the Platform within 14 days.
c. We must pay you any outstanding Commission within 30 days.
d. Clauses 4.2, 10, 11, 12, and 13 survive termination.
10.1. Nothing in this Agreement excludes liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
10.2. Subject to 10.1, each party's total liability under this agreement is capped at the greater of £500, and the total Commission paid or payable to you in the 12 months before the claim arose. This cap does not apply to your liability under clause 4.2.
10.3. Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profits, revenue, or goodwill.
11.1. We process your personal data (including name, contact details, bank details, and location data) in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy published on the Platform.
12.1. Entire agreement. This agreement is the entire agreement between the parties regarding its subject matter.
12.2. Neither party may assign this agreement without written consent from the other party.
12.3. No partnership or employment is created by this agreement.
12.4. Notices by email to the Artist’s email address in the Acceptance Records for the artist and to artists@rootsart.co.uk for Roots, deemed to be received the next business day.
12.5. Variation. No variation of this agreement is effective unless it is in writing and agreed by both parties. This must be recorded by our issue of, and your acceptance of, an Acceptance Form for the revised agreement.
12.6. Third party rights. No person other than the parties has any right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce this agreement.
12.7. Severability. If any provision of this agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remainder continues in full force.
12.8. Execution. This agreement becomes binding on both parties at the Effective Date. Acceptance via the Acceptance Form has the same effect as a signature by each party; no further execution is required.
13.1. This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.
